Julie was born in Minneapolis , Minnesota , but does not recall much of it as her family lived in six cities by the time she was 11 years old. Julie and her sister (11 months older and two years wiser) had dreams of becoming the next pop family sensation with their own TV show --a la Donny and Marie Osmond. They almost made it, until one tragic evening when their parents yelled from downstairs to “Knock off that racket”... and they did.
In high school, Julie was extremely studious and spent little time performing other than in her room when she was grounded. She did, however, make time to cheerlead (and call the opposite cheer for whatever play was going on at the time) for her high school football and basketball teams.
Julie attended college at UC Santa Barbara and majored in Art Studio and Business. After graduating Magna Cum Laude, she worked in sales and marketing for several different corporations. She spent long days driving in her car and dreaming of the day she would "stop the corporate nonsense" and become an artist. While working full time, Julie studied acting and began vocal training as well. During that time she also participated in local theatre productions; however, it would be another few years before she pursued an acting career full time. Julie is now proud that she can tell her future great grandchildren, or anyone who will listen, that she “threw away conventionality and went after her dream.”
Julie's roles on stage include but are not limited to: Christine in “Phantom”, for which she earned a Robby Award Best Actress Nomination; Anne in Sondheim's “A Little Night Music” and Miss America in Ted Tally's “Coming Attractions”.
Recent television appearances include, “Parks and Recreation”, “Desperate Housewives”, “Pushing Daisies“, “UnHitched”, and “Penn & Teller’s Bullsh*t”. She can also be seen in numerous national commercials.
When not in front of a camera, Julie can be found writing and performing original sketch comedy with the ACME players at the ACME Comedy Theater in Los Angeles.
Julie's hobbies include oil painting, hiking, and amusing her two cats, Crosby and Natascha. But that doesn’t make her a crazy cat lady... yet.
